STATE OF FLORIDA PROVES DoD PRODUCT COMMERCIALIZATION IS A PRIORITY
Through the efforts of the staff at Pendulum Services LLC, the Doolittle Institute was awarded a portion of a $1.8 million State of Florida grant through the Florida Defense Support Task Force to support Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant recipients and the technology transfer initiative across 13 counties in the State of Florida.
Announced by Gov. Rick Scott during the week of July 4, 2016, this grant will be used by the Doolittle Institute to support SBIR recipients and help them accelerate the
commercialization of new products and bring them to market. These products are
based on Department of Defense technologies that have been approved for commercial
use.
“We are helping scientists, and small businesses accelerate product and business development,” says Sid Saunders, Principal of Pendulum Services, LLC, “These are brilliant people, however, they are government employees or contractors and some have never had an opportunity to bring a product to market. We consider it a great privilege to be instrumental in assisting the Doolittle Institute to acquire the State grant.”
“The Air Force Research Laboratory at Eglin Air Force Base sees benefit in tech transfer to
industry,” says David E. Lambert, Chief Scientist, Munitions Directorate at Eglin. “These incubation programs are needed to support future development and acquisition programs for the entire Department of Defense.”
A total collaborative effort has been designed by the Doolittle Institute to involve local and
regional colleges and universities, technology-based businesses, venture capital firms, major
aerospace companies and federal laboratories involved in technology acceleration.
This grant program is administered by Florida Defense Support Task Force of Enterprise Florida, Inc. and is awarded annually, on a project priority basis, to organizations and communities working to protect, preserve and enhance Florida's military installations and missions.
Pendulum Services, LLC provides award winning advice and support to government agencies and others on the formation and operation of Public Private Partnerships (P3) and Public/Public Partnerships (P4). We assist military departments, such as U.S. Army and Air Force, in development of strategies and recommendations on new P3 and P4 methods to improve efficiency of operations and produce of workshops on community partnerships and formation of Not for Profit intermediaries.
