Doolittle Institute Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/ Small Business Technology transfer (STTR) Workshop

Supported in part by a Florida Defense Support Task Force grant, the Doolittle Institute and Air Force Research Lab Munitions Directorate held a SBIR/STTR Transition Workshop April 4th & 5th, 2017 at the Doolittle Institute’s Fort Walton Beach, Florida facility.

The purpose of the workshop was to facilitate technology insertion into Air Force acquisition programs and increase private sector commercialization of Air Force research and development (R&D) performed under the SBIR/STTR program. Phase I and Phase II Air Force SBIR/STTR awardees were provided with practical advice, tools and resources for technology transition. In addition, four successful SBIR/STTR companies shared their program experiences.

The workshop was very successful in connecting small business with knowledge, resources, tools – and customers – previously unknown to them. One presenting company is pursuing collaboration with Miltech on a cost reduction project for their product. Another is being introduced to a large company that is interested in their technology/product.

“I’ve been to a lot of these SBIR training events and this is by far the best one I’ve ever attended.” – Workshop Participant
